The decision was made at the end of an emergency congress of the Association of Resident Physicians, Ard-Fect, on Monday, where all public hospitals were asked to start the strike from 8 AM on Tuesday.

ARD-FECTA in a statement published at the end of the meeting, said the industrial action had become necessary after the unemployment of its April salaries by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

The statement signed jointly by the President and the Secretary General of the Association, Dr. George Ebong and Dr. Agbor Affiong, respectively, described the government's decision to eliminate the workers affected from the payroll without any prior notification, appropriate consultation or due process as arbitrary and unfair.

According to the ARD, workers who understand doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and non -clinical personnel were erroneously labeled as ghost and fugging workers, despite being actively involved in hospital operations.

The FCT Hospital Management Board, the Association of Medical and Dental Consultants of Nigeria, MDCAN and other relevant health authorities were not consulted before the action, that doctors, according to doctors, violated the established administrative procedures.

The statement says in part: “We observe with a deep anger and the maximum disappointment the arbitrary and unfair retention of April wages that affect 127 members of our association and other health workers, despite the fact that these personnel submitted to the tedious verification process organized by the Commission.

“This action was taken without any prior notice or due diligence, and this is completely unacceptable.

“We noticed how scandalously they were falsely labeled to these workers for having escaped and their names deleted from the payment platform for the Civil Service Commission, despite the fact that hospital services have continued uninterrupted.”

In addition, they declared that “more than 100 dedicated employees have now denied their legitimate profits, a shameful decision that has caused emotional, physical, psychological and financial difficulties not counted.”

The association also condemned the lack of communication of the FCT Hospital Management Board, and several hospitals managing directors declared that they were blinded by the Sacks.

According to reports, three managing directors and other health management personnel have been directly affected by the decision of the Commission.

“What is equally disturbing is the complete exclusion of the key interested parties of this decision -making process by the Civil Service Commission.

“The medical directors of the affected hospitals, the general director of the Hospital Management Board, the Secretary of Permanent Health and even the secretary of the mandate were marginalized. This lack of consultation reveals a clear breakdown in governance and responsibility.

“Even more irritating is the behavior of the Civil Service Commission. Their actions have gone beyond inefficiency: they have become a source of deliberate frustration and sabotage.

“The president and commission staff have shown an arrow of arrogance, rude and disdain for the personnel that brings them closer to legitimate consultations.

“The expressions of the Civil Service Commission range from threatening words to teasing of health workers.

“They delay routine processes such as conversions after part, omission and promotions simply to affirm irrelevant control and power. This type of toxic and bureaucratic imprudence cannot be allowed to continue.”

The ARD-FCTA demands the immediate restitution of the affected workers and their payroll inclusion, the payment of their April wages without delay, an apology in writing of the President of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Dr. Emeka Ezeh, recognizing the anguish caused by the incomplete dismissal and the immediate resignation of Dr. Ezeh, whom the doctors abusers of Faestering Tayicatage and leadership and unjustified leadership.

Doctors have given the Minister of FCT Barr. Nyesom Wike A three -day ultimatum, which ends on Friday, May 9, 2025 to address your complaints. Lack of which, the Ard-Fect has warned about an indefinite strike that will put all public hospitals in the FCT.

In addition to the warning strike, doctors have announced plans for a peaceful protest march to the FCT administration headquarters, looking for an urgent intervention by Minister Wike.
