A strategic coalition meeting that involves several high -profile political figures, including former vice president Atiku Abubakar, the Peter OBI of the Labor Party and the former governor of the state of Rivers, Rotimi Amaechi, was briefly interrupted on Sunday after a dispute arose about the state representation between the delegates of the state of Jigawa.
The meeting, held at the Continental Hotel in Abuja, was convened by the National Political Advisory Group (North) as part of the continuous efforts to forge a united political front before the general elections of 2027.
The platform has attracted attention for its attempt to gather various opposition voices in response to the ruler Congress of all progressives (APC).

The problems began when Babachir Lawal, former secretary of the Federation Government and a prominent member of the group, appointed delegate to speak on behalf of Jigawa.
The announcement was immediately found with the resistance of other Jigawa attendees, who argued that the election lacked legitimacy and did not reflect the consensus of the State's interested parties.
In a dramatic turn, several Jigawa delegates broke into the podium, physically blocking the nominated speaker and insisting that they would not accept the representation of the people who had not supported. The heated exchange arrested the meeting momentarily, causing visible concern among the participants.
Security staff, including Nigeria Police Force agents, State Department (DSS) and private guards, intervened quickly, forming a protective ring around key figures such as Atiku, Obi and AMAechi, to prevent the situation from spiralizing even more.
The order was finally restored after appeals from members of the coalition.
A commitment was reached when Mustapha Lick, son of the former governor of the state of Jigawa, Sule Lick, together with another delegate, was selected to represent the State in the discussions.
While the incident was resolved without more incidents, he highlighted the underlying tensions within the broad base alliance and the challenges of harmonizing various political interests under a single umbrella.
Observers say that such internal disputes should be handled carefully if the coalition presents a credible challenge in 2027.
The meeting then resumed behind closed doors, with discussions focused on shared strategies for electoral reform, national unity and political realignment.
