Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has announced that APC leaders and stakeholders in the 484 wards and 44 local government areas of Kano have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ganduje made the announcement at a press conference held at his Kano residence on Sunday, stating that “the endorsement came after a three-day series of intensive meetings attended by party executives, caucus leaders, former political officials and other influential stakeholders from across the state.”
Speaking at the end of the meetings, the former APC National Chairman and former Governor of Kano State explained that “the consultative sessions were convened to strengthen the unity of the party and renew commitment to President Tinubu’s ‘Agenda of Renewed Hope’.”
Ganduje noted that stakeholders deliberated on strategies to consolidate the party’s control in Kano and secure sweeping “top-to-bottom” victories in the 2027 elections, including a landslide victory for President Tinubu in Kano and all northern states.
“As we move towards 2027, there is a need for us to ensure the total unity of our party, from top to bottom,” Ganduje said. “We must show solidarity with our party and support the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He revealed that the stakeholders jointly resolved that APC leaders in all districts and local governments would return to their constituencies to publicly proclaim Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.
According to him, the meeting also ordered that all 484 district offices and 44 local government party offices be made fully functional and accessible to strengthen grassroots mobilization and attract new members.
Ganduje further revealed that the discussions covered the party’s upcoming electronic membership registration, noting that computers had already been procured for the exercise.
He said each district and local government would provide trained personnel to manage the e-registration process.
“As you may recall, during the last registration exercise, Kano produced the highest number of registered party members in the country. We are determined to maintain that position and even surpass previous records,” he added.
The former governor also urged eligible voters, especially youth who recently reached voting age, to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in line with the ongoing nationwide voter registration.
Prominent attendees of the meetings included APC 2023 gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, his running mate, Murtala Sule Garo, and member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, among other prominent figures in the party.
Stakeholders affirmed their readiness to “fully mobilize” by 2027, pledging unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu and the APC national leadership.
