In a renovated impulse for environmental sustainability, the agroclimatic project of the state of Gombe in the semi -arid landscape project (acresal) has planted 200 blackcurrent seedlings (Ribes Nigrum) at the entrance of the University of the Northeast, Gombe.
Speaking at the event, the vice chancellor of the Northeastern University, Gombe, Prof. Yusuph Yahaya Amuda, praised the state governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the Acresal team for his commitment to environmental preservation.
He stressed that beyond promoting climate resilience, the project improves the landscape of the university and infuses environmental awareness in students and the community in general.
Professor Yusuph Yahaya said that newly planted trees would be carefully nourished and protected.
The Coordinator of the Acresal Project of the State of Gombe, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, described the initiative as a strategic step towards sustainable development.
He affirmed that the initiative is part of the broader ecological restoration efforts of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, with the aim of mitigating climate change and promoting green investment in the state.
Dr. Sani Adamu revealed plans to extend the tree planting project from the door of the city of Gombe to the airport, underlining the dedication of administration to combat climate change through proactive measures.
The Acresal project continues to lead environmental conservation efforts, reinforcing its “environmental and saving lives” mission.
