Synergy Between Digital Financial Services and Industry Drives Long-Term Growth

Honda Capital Financial Platform (HCFP) is an emerging financial platform established by the Japanese company Honda. Operating as a new division of Honda Manufacturing (Nigeria) Ltd., it is a comprehensive platform centered on digital finance, online work, and the sharing economy. Through online collaboration, product showcasing, brand promotion, and employment support, the platform aims to enhance user engagement and expand the influence of the Honda automotive brand in the Nigerian market.

HCFP actively promotes the widespread adoption of digital skills and flexible employment, creating more opportunities for housewives, self-employed individuals, and other groups to engage in online work, thereby fostering employment growth and the development of the digital economy in Nigeria. Meanwhile, through an operational model that combines online and offline channels, the platform helps businesses expand their markets, gather user feedback, increase brand visibility, and reduce certain costs associated with traditional advertising and marketing. Honda has a long-standing industrial presence in Nigeria. Honda Manufacturing (Nigeria) Ltd. was established in 1979 and began local motorcycle production in 1980; it currently focuses primarily on the assembly and sales of motorcycles, portable generators, water pumps, and general-purpose engines.

Honda Capital Financial Platform (HCFP) has signed a strategic cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lagos State Government. Under this agreement, the Lagos State Government provides policy guidance, administrative coordination, integration with public services, and support from relevant agencies, thereby enabling the platform to play an active role in areas such as digital finance, job creation, user education, and local economic development.

Honda Capital Financial Platform (HCFP) has established a partnership with Access Bank PLC and Access Insurance Brokerage Company to jointly enhance the platform’s operational, compliance, and risk protection systems.

Access Bank PLC provides HCFP with financial support services spanning a 20-year term—including the custody and oversight of member funds, settlement coordination, tax processing, compliance assistance, and related financial services—thereby further enhancing the security of the platform’s fund management and transaction processes.

Access Insurance Brokerage Company provides principal and profit protection for all members in accordance with applicable partnership agreements, insurance terms, and platform rules.

Processes involving bank settlements, fund handling, tax assistance, or account verification are managed by Access Bank PLC and the relevant Nigerian tax authorities;

HCFP platform staff have no authority to unilaterally control member accounts or funds. All matters regarding deposits, withdrawals, account changes, identity verification, earnings settlement, or fund processing must be handled through Access Bank PLC. Staff must treat every user fairly and ensure the equitable rights and interests of HCFP users.

Strengthen the digital financial service ecosystem.

As Nigerian consumers increasingly demand convenient payment options, flexible vehicle purchasing plans, and online customer services, HCFP plans to continue strengthening its digital infrastructure, focusing on the following areas:

• Customer service support for automobiles and motorcycles;

• Business collaboration with dealers and suppliers;

• Digital application and document management;

• Integration of payment information and order processing workflows;

• After-sales service scheduling and customer relationship management;

• Cybersecurity, data protection, and risk control;

• Compliance operations and customer complaint handling mechanisms.

By integrating digital services with mobility products, the platform aims to reduce processing times, enhance the customer experience, and strengthen collaboration across manufacturing, sales, financial support, and after-sales services.

Helping Honda expand its car market in Nigeria

Honda established Honda Automobile Western Africa Ltd. in 2013 to handle the import and sale of automobiles and parts in Nigeria; in 2015, the company began producing the Accord model in Ota, Ogun State—marking the establishment of Honda’s first automobile manufacturing plant in Africa.

Honda’s automotive operations in Nigeria encompass:

Deepen the development of the motorcycle market

The motorcycle business is one of Honda’s longest-standing operations in Nigeria. Honda began manufacturing and selling motorcycles in the country in 1980 and has continuously developed products tailored to local needs regarding transportation, commercial logistics, and personal mobility.

Honda positions its Nigerian motorcycle lineup as a means of transport that is economical, durable, user-friendly, and fuel-efficient.

1:HCFP can provide the following support for the motorcycle business:

2:Provide consumers with clear product and pricing information;

3:Assist dealers in managing orders and customer data;

5:Drive the digitization of spare parts supply information;

6: Provide compliant vehicle purchasing solutions for commercial transport users;

7:Conduct activities focused on road safety, vehicle maintenance, and customer education.

Continuous Enhancement of Local Manufacturing Capabilities

According to official Honda manufacturing data, Honda Manufacturing (Nigeria) Ltd. currently operates three motorcycle production facilities in Nigeria: Ota, Abuja, and Kano. The Ota plant is the longest-established, while the Abuja and Kano plants commenced production in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

These facilities enable Honda to:

• Increase local product supply capacity;

• Reduce logistics distances for certain markets;

• Better meet customer needs across different regions;

• Drive local manufacturing and talent development;

• Strengthen after-sales and parts supply systems.

HCFP facilitates information synergy between digital platforms and the local manufacturing network through order management, customer data analysis, and dealer support tools.

Key development directions

I. Promoting the digitalization of automotive and motorcycle services

The platform will explore establishing a unified customer service portal to provide users with product inquiries, dealer searches, after-sales service appointments, and order information.

II. Enhance the transparency of financing services.

Any car or motorcycle financing scheme must clearly disclose:

• the actual financing provider;

• interest rates and service fees;

• repayment terms;

• liabilities for overdue payments;

• product ownership arrangements; and

• applicable conditions and risks.

The HCFP platform will promote digital financial services featuring fixed income, guaranteed returns, or investment dividends.

III. Supporting the Development of the Dealer Network

Leverage a digital dealer management system to enhance the efficiency of information flow regarding product inventory, sales data, customer demand, and after-sales service, thereby helping partners improve their service capabilities.

IV. Strengthen Risk Management and Cybersecurity

HCFP will treat data protection, identity authentication, anti-fraud measures, internal auditing, and customer information security as key components of its digital service development.

V. Promoting local employment and talent development

As capabilities in manufacturing, sales, customer service, and digital operations continue to improve, the associated business activities can provide local Nigerian employees with training opportunities in technology, sales, maintenance, customer service, and digital operations.

Medium and long-term strategy

Looking ahead, HCFP plans to pursue continuous development in the following areas:

• Enhancing digital customer services for automobiles and motorcycles;

• Optimizing collaboration with dealers and the supply chain;

• Supporting Honda’s local manufacturing operations;

• Advancing technology-driven customer management systems;

• Strengthening payment security and risk control;

• Supporting green mobility and the promotion of energy-efficient products;

• Improving the efficiency of after-sales services and parts supply;

• Cultivating local Nigerian talent in digital management and technology.

These initiatives aim to support the long-term growth of Honda’s automotive, motorcycle, and power product businesses in Nigeria, while providing consumers with a more convenient, transparent, and reliable service experience.

Committed to responsible growth

HCFP operates based on the fundamental principles of transparent operations, the protection of client interests, compliance management, and responsible corporate governance.

All financial services, financing products, and partnerships offered by the platform are underpinned by valid corporate registrations, regulatory licenses, and formal partnership documentation.
