Former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has said that, as a principle, he has no grudge against people due to his past actions against him, even if he was injured, emphasizing the importance of forgiveness and moving since the past, especially in political arena, for cohesion and national development.

Jonathan made the statement on Wednesday night during a Requiem Mass held in Abuja in honor of the late boss Audu Ogbeh. He joined family members, friends and supporters to present the final respects to the late statesman, recognized and farmer politician.

While paying tribute, Dr. Jonathan described Chief Ogbeh as a humble and indulgent individual who never clung to resentment, reflecting his attitude towards life.

“Chief Ogbeh was a man who did not seek revenge. He believed that the past should be left behind and that we must continue advancing,” said Dr. Jonathan. “In that sense, he was like me. If it hurts me today, I will forgive you. I do not have a grudge against people. I think the past has passed, and I move on.”

Reflecting on his personal relationship with the late Chief Ogbeh, Dr. Jonathan recalled his close friendship that goes back to his time as a vice governor.

“I did not know the chief OGBEH until I became an attached governor when he served as national president of the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP). At that time, the attached governors were often seen as spare tires, but he treated me as a close friend. Every time I visited it, he saw him see him and we always had good conversations.

Jonathan added that his relationship remained cordial even after becoming president.

“Every time I wanted to see me, it came, sometimes we spent up to one hour arguing national issues,” he said.

The former president urged Nigerian politicians to emulate the values ​​that the Head of the OGBEH values ​​defended, especially his humility, spirit of forgiveness and ability to unify people in different segments of society.
