Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo, on Tuesday declared his intention to build on Governor Seyi Makinde’s development gains, describing himself as “the embodiment of “Omituntun 3.0” – continuity without compromise.”
Speaking at the Iseyin Town Hall, where members of the Oyo State Councilors Forum converged, Ajadi said his aspiration was driven by the commitment to protect and deepen Makinde’s governance reforms while strengthening grassroots participation in decision-making.
“I am here because you are the leaders closest to the people. Governor Seyi Makinde has done exceptionally well, and Oyo State cannot afford to hand this progress into the wrong hands. That is why I say I represent Omituntun 3.0 – the continuity of good governance,” Ajadi said.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, brought together councilors from all 33 local government areas of the state, marking the first time, according to participants, that a gubernatorial aspirant officially participated in the council forum on such a scale.
Ajadi, who identified himself as “a son of the soil and son of Chief Bode Amoo, hails from Ward 8, Osengere, Egbeda Local Government”, said his presence at the meeting was based on loyalty to the party and respect for the grassroots leadership.
“We are gathered here today because we are genuine members of the PDP,” he said before observing a minute’s silence for the deceased party members and offering prayers for the party’s leaders and councillors.
Vision, structure and basic approach
The PDP aspirant also highlighted his experience in the private sector, referring to Bullion Go-Neat Global Limited and its subsidiaries, including Bullion Records, BullionMonie, Bullion Propertie, Bullion Automobiles and Bullion Sports, as proof of his economic and organizational leadership capabilities.
Ajadi announced that the councilors would act as district-level coordinators for his political movement, urging them to reconcile the party’s grievances at the grassroots.
“You are my coordinators in all districts. I urge you to unite grassroots leaders because that is where elections are won,” he said.
Councilors clarify position
Previously, the Hon. Ayodeji Oladepo-Ala, leader of the Oyo State Councilors Forum, clarified that the meeting was not an endorsement but an opportunity for dialogue.
“We have not endorsed any aspirant,” Oladepo-Ala said. “This forum organized this meeting to listen and understand what Ambassador Ajadi’s aspiration represents. However, it is no secret that his political commitments across Oyo State are widely known, even among non-politicians.”
Oladepo-Ala commended the performance of Governor Makinde, stressing that his successor must possess the vision and energy to sustain existing achievements.
“His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has raised the bar for governance. Whoever succeeds him must be focused, vibrant and willing to continue his policies, not dismantle them,” he added.
Recognition of Councilors
Praising Ajadi’s commitment, Hon. Olasukanmi Olusola, Leader of the Egbeda Local Government House, described the aspirant as the first to formally recognize the relevance of councilors in the political structure of the state.
“This is the first gubernatorial aspirant to recognize us as stakeholders,” Olusola said. “Egbeda Local Government is proud to partner with Ambassador Ajadi.”
Zonal Voices, Requests
Councilors from several areas welcomed Ajadi’s approach while making appeals for specific sectors.
From the Ogbomosho area, Hon. Oladeyinde commended the recognition of the councilors and urged support for voter registration efforts, while Hon. Lawrence Olubuse Adepoju of Ibarapa area stressed the need to improve internal roads and youth employment.
In Ibadan, the Hon. Salewa Taiwo pledged strong women’s support for Ajadi’s ambition, urging inclusive governance, while Hon. On Sunday, Adeola called for financial support for councilors as district coordinators and warned against political impositions.
Gesture of support and closure
In his final comment, the Hon. Saludeen Abdulkabir revealed that Ajadi had approved financial support for all councillors, including families of deceased members, and also promised five solar street lights per ward, which Ajadi immediately confirmed.
A vote of thanks was delivered by the Hon. Ibitoye Simon who urged Ajadi to maintain strong ties with Governor Makinde to ensure party unity ahead of the PDP primaries.
The Oyo State Councilors Forum has 351 members, with three confirmed deaths.
