Iran has indirectly issued a threat of death against the president of the United States, Donald Trump, after an influential cleric said that threats against Iranian leader Ali Khamenei are considered a curse and a sin, punishable by death under Islam.
Almost two weeks ago, Trump had indirectly threatened Khamenei, saying it was an easy target.
“We are not going to get it (kill!), At least not for now,” he told reporters.

Ayatolá Nasser Makarem Shirazi, an influential cleric of Qom, south of the capital, Tehran, did not mention Trump by name, but declared in a religious statement that the threats against Khamenei or other religious leaders are considered so serious that they are punishable by death under Islam, the state agency reported.
Makarem Shirazi was answering a question of a believer about Trump.
“Individuals or regimes that attack an Islamic government or threaten or act against their religious leaders are considered 'Mohabe'”, which means enemies of God or warriors against God.
Therefore, he said, it is the duty of Muslims to hold these “enemies.” Ayatollah is the religious title of an Islamic legal scholar.
He did not appoint Trump directly, but simply explained the Islamic principles, who claim that those who punish the enemies of Islamic states and leaders are considered as holy warriors and are sure of God's blessing..
