Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that Iran is a “threat to everyone”, warning that the actions of the Islamic Republic endanger not only Israel, but also world peace and security.
In an interview with ABC News on Monday, Netanyahu argued that heading to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, would not increase the ongoing conflict, would end it.
“The conflict will not increase, the conflict will end,” he said, responding to the reports that the former president of the United States, Donald Trump, had once rejected an Israeli plan to kill Khamenei for fear of leading to a broader war.
Netanyahu accused Tehran of extending terror in the Middle East and pushing the world towards the nuclear disaster.
“We have had half a century of conflict extended by this regime … The 'Forever War' is what Iran wants, and they are taking us to the edge of nuclear war,” he said. “What Israel is doing is avoiding this, ending this aggression.”
The Israeli leader also hinted that Israel has already acted against Iran's nuclear program.
“I will not go into the details, but we have pointed to their best nuclear scientists,” he said. “It is basically Hitler's nuclear team.”
Netanyahu emphasized that the threat of Iran extends far beyond the borders of Israel.
“Today, it's Tel Aviv. Tomorrow, it's New York,” he warned. “They sing 'death to America'. So we are doing something that is at the service of humanity … a battle of good against evil.”
He thanked Trump for supporting Israel's efforts and dismissed the reports that Iran was trying to return to nuclear negotiations.
“They lie, they deceive, attack the United States … while building their nuclear weapons and missile arsenal,” said Netanyahu.
He also withdrew against US voices, such as conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, who opposes the support of the United States to Israel's attacks in Iran.
“We are not only fighting our enemy, we are fighting your enemy,” Netyahu said. “To say that this is not your business? That is not myopia. That is total blindness.”
As tensions intensify, the United States Department of State increased on Monday its travel notice to “level 4: no travel” for all Israel and the West Bank, its highest warning level.
