Israel has approved a new military plan to capture the entire Gaza Strip and maintain control during an un specified period.
The decision occurs after more than a year of war that has not yet met with the objectives of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to destroy Hamas and ensure the return of all Israeli hostages.
The plan includes provisions to distribute help, although supplies will not be allowed for now. An Israeli official said the strategy would push the civilian population of Gaza further south and ensure that the aid does not reach Hamas.

“The newly approved offensive plan would move the civilian population of Gaza to the south and prevent humanitarian aid from falling into the hands of Hamas,” said the official.
On Sunday, the United Nations rejected what it called a new Israeli aid plan that involves distribution through “Israeli centers.” The UN warned that the approach “appears designed to reinforce control over the elements that support life as a pressure tactic, as part of a military strategy.”
He also said that the plan would leave many people, including the most vulnerable, without essential supplies.
The Israeli cabinet approved the plan early Monday, only a few hours after announcing the call of tens of thousands of reserve soldiers.
The authorities say that the strategy will help advance military objectives and prevent Hamas from using help to strengthen its control. They confirmed that the plan includes “the capture of the strip and the celebration of territories.”
However, the strategy could move hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to southern Gaza, worsening the already serious humanitarian crisis.
The war began after Hamas launched a deadly attack against Israel, killed 1,200 people and took around 250 hostages.
In response, Israel launched a land offensive that has killed more than 52,000 Palestinians, according to the Ministry of Health led by Hamas.
A high fire that briefly stopped the fight and allowed the exchanges of hostage prisoners collapsed earlier this year, which led to a renewed conflict.
