Gaza’s civil defense agency and hospitals said on Sunday that at least 45 people were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes across the territory, revising a previous toll of 33.

The Israeli military confirmed it had attacked dozens of Hamas positions across the Gaza Strip, as both sides accused each other of violating the nine-day ceasefire negotiated by US President Donald Trump.

“At least 45 people were killed as a result of Israeli airstrikes against various areas of the Gaza Strip,” Mahmoud Bassal, spokesman for the civil defense agency, which operates as a rescue service under the authority of Hamas, told AFP.

Four Gaza hospitals confirmed the death toll and said they had received the dead and wounded. Al-Awda hospital in Nuseirat reported 24 dead and 73 injured from multiple attacks in central Gaza. Al-Aqsa Hospital said it received 12 deaths from nearby shelling, while Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis reported five deaths and Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City confirmed four deaths.

Previously, Bassal detailed several of the attacks. He said six people were killed when an Israeli strike hit a “group of civilians” in the central Gaza town of Zuwaida. Six other people, including children, were killed and 13 injured in two separate attacks near Nuseirat.

In the Al-Ahli Club area of Nuseirat, two people were killed and several others injured when an Israeli strike hit a tent. Two more were killed in an airstrike in eastern Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, Bassal said.

According to the civil defense agency, one person was killed in an attack on an apartment in a building in western Gaza City. Others later succumbed to injuries sustained in the attacks, Bassal added.

The Israeli military told AFP it was still checking casualty reports but announced later on Sunday that it had resumed implementing the ceasefire in Gaza.
