The President/CEO of the Electricity Regulatory Commission of the State of Kogi (Kerc), Eng. Ibrahim Abdwaaris has said that the Commission within six months of the responsibility of the Kogi state electricity has evolved from a legislative concept to a regulatory body in full operation with legal, technical, financial and visible foundations.
The president of the Regulatory Commission declared this when the Permanent Physical Planning Committee of the House of Representatives of the Kogi State House, urban and rural development in a supervision function visited the commission's office in Lokoja.

According to Eng. Abdwaaris, with continuous support and financing, the KERC will offer a resistant, centered and reliable investment electricity market that reflects the ambitions of the Kogi state under the 2024 Electricity Law as provided by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
He praised legislators for their support, ensuring that the commission would continue working to achieve its central objectives.
The members of the committee led by its president, the Hon. Obaro Emmanuel, expressed his confidence in the ability of the pioneer/CEO President of the Electricity Regulatory Commission of the State of Kogi (Kerc), Eng. Ibrahim Abdwaaris must fulfill his mandate.
Excmo Obaro, who is the member who represents Yagba East in the State Assembly Chamber, said the visit was part of the committee's supervision function, which would allow members to obtain a deeper understanding of the commission's operations and evaluate their progress.
The legislator who pointed out that the visit also aimed to guarantee effective governance and supervision in the state's electricity sector, said that the activities of the Commission are aligned with the state development objectives and priorities.
“With what we have seen here so far, the commission has done very well. With the configuration established by Ker and its management, I have no doubt in my mind that this Kerc is traveling a lot.”
While praising Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for putting the competent hands in charge of the Commission, the Hon. Obaro urged Kerc to make significant progress to achieve its central objectives and improve the state's energy sector.
For its part, the member who represents the constituency of the state of Mopamuro, Hon. Jacob Sam Olawunmi urged Kerc to contact the Ministry of State Budget and plan to capture their challenges in the state budget.
“In response to its special budget allocation sentences and provision of operational vehicles for the Commission, I will like to contact the Ministry of Budget and Planning so that there is a budgetary provision for this because if it is not captured in the budget, there is absolutely nothing we can do about it,”.
