The agroclimatic resilience of the state of Kogi in the semi -arid landscape project (Acresal) recently made an inspection visit of three days to several project sites throughout the state.
The inspection team was directed by Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management, ENGR. Oluwasegun Joseph, who also functions as president, Kogi State Steering Committee.
The inspection team, which was also composed of members of the SSC and STC, visited intervention sites, including water collection sites, CRF and agroforestry sites in Okene, Ankpa and Kabba LGA.

The Hon. The commissioner, as well as other members of the inspection team, praised the progress and quality of the work of the project on land.
The Hon. The commissioner also praised the adhesion of the project to the established standards, expressing satisfaction with the level of work carried out so far at the Gully sites in Okene, Ankpa and Kabba.
In addition, he emphasized the state government's commitment to improve the livelihoods of communities through initiatives such as the Acresal project.
“The state government is dedicated to improving the lives of our people, and this project is a testimony of that commitment,” he said.
Similarly, the Water Resources Commissioner, Eng. Faruk Danladi, who is also co -chair of the SSC, expressed his delight for the achievements in Kabba, Ankpa and Okene.
He pointed out that the project progress exceeded expectations in a short period.
Other sites visited were the places for collection of intervention, reforestation and intervention areas of the CRF site.
While heading to the team, the project coordinator, Kogi Acresal, Barr Ladi Ahmed Jatto-Oon, appreciated the state governor, Usman Ododo, for “the good work he is doing in the state, and for being a solid strength behind the success of the acresal project so far.”
In addition, he thanked the World Bank team and the national team for their support and guidance that are key to the registered successes.
In addition, he added that the key objectives of the project are “restoration of the land, improvement of living and the increase in food security.”
The inspection visit demonstrates the commitment of the Kogi state government to monitor and evaluate the activities of the acresal project of the state of Kogi, in an attempt to match the progress of the project.
Project achievements are expected to have a positive impact on the determination of the State to improve environmental conservation, improve livelihoods and promote sustainable development in the state.
The acresal project also aims to improve the resilience of communities in the state of Kogi to climate change, improve agricultural productivity and promote sustainable earth management practices.
