The Kogi State Government has launched the integrated measles measles, polyomyelitis and human papillomava (HPV), an important public health papillomaval campaign aimed at protecting children and adolescents from the entire state of preventable vaccine diseases.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo made the official flag of the campaign on Tuesday through the Development of the Primary Health Care of the State of Kogi (KSPHCDA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Development Parties.
According to the government, the exercise reflects the administration’s commitment to safeguard the health and well -being of each child and adolescent in Kogi. It also marks a key step to eliminate preventable vaccine diseases and protect girls against cervical cancer through HPV vaccine.
Speaking at the ceremony held in the old primary health center in Lokoja, Governor Ododo described the vaccination campaign as a renewed commitment to save lives and strengthen primary health care throughout the state, and added that it represents “a commitment to life, health and future of the state of Kogi.”
He reaffirmed the determination of his administration to build a healthy and productive population, emphasizing that vaccines are free, safe and effective. In addition, he urged that no child in Kogi stays behind on the trip to a healthier life.
The Governor Ododo asked the parents, caregivers and traditional and religious leaders to support the campaign, ensuring that vaccines are completely free and essential for each eligible child. He praised development partners and health workers for their continuous support and dedication to improve the well -being of Kogi citizens.
Also speaking, the health commissioner, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adams, praised the governor’s leadership and pointed out the growing community support for the revitalization of primary health centers throughout the state. He expressed gratitude to traditional, religious and community leaders for their roles in the advancement of public health awareness.
Previously, the Executive Director of the Development of the Primary Health Care of the State of Kogi, Dr. Mu’azu Musa Omeiza, announced that the vaccination campaign is aimed at 1.9 million children from nine months to 14 years against measles and rubella, along with the additional coverage for polyomyelitis and HPV.

He explained that the campaign, which extends from October 6 to 15, represents a coordinated and evidence -based approach to protect the next generation of the State. Mu’azu praised all interested parties and health workers for their dedication and urged families and the media to ensure that each eligible child receives vaccines that save lives.
In his message of goodwill, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Babatunde Ishola of the National Agency for Primary Health Care (NPHCDA) praised the state of Kogi for achieving an immunization coverage of 100 percent and praised the commitment of Governor Ododo with public health. He also requested the recruitment of more first -line and auxiliary health workers to strengthen health provision throughout the state.
The event, according to the Government, reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to strengthen the provision of primary health care and safeguard the health of women and children. In addition, he reflected the broader strategy of the administration to improve access to medical care, improve immunization coverage and reduce preventable diseases in communities throughout the state of Kogi.
