Lagos APC warns Peter Obi about comments on Tinubu

The Congress of all progressives (APC) in the state of Lagos has urged the former governor of the state of Anambra, Peter Obi, to exercise restriction and give up undermining national discourse with knee statements created for the applause of social networks.

The party, through its spokesman, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, declared this while reacted to the latest comments made by Obi questioning the private holidays of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and linked him to the security situation of the nation.

According to Oladejo, Nigeria needs a credible and constructive opposition and not a “professional demanding chief like OBI”, whose dream of becoming a boss commander has remained a nightmare.

“Should Peter Obi comment above all or something?” He interrogated.

He said: “The Nigerians are not deceived. The constant moralization of OBI of each movement of the president hits less patriotism and more than a desperate understanding of relevance. In their attempt to broadcast as the increasingly lively consciousness of the nation, constantly cheap the severity of governance and reduces the complex national problems to mere points of conversation.

“Let’s be clear: President Tinubu, like any responsible leader, is still completely informed and in active communication with his security and intelligence teams, even in a short vacation. Governance does not stop simply because a leader takes time to rest, especially in a time, safe and real communication is always within reach. Mr. Obi knows, but obviously prefer the position of the pragmatism.

“One would expect a former presidential governor and applicant to appreciate that effective leadership also implies knowing when to speak, how to speak and when to exercise discipline to remain silent. Unfortunately, Mr. OBI seems to believe that his political relevance lies in reacting to each action or inaction of the government, regardless of the context or consequence.

“Perhaps it is time for OBI managers to get more attentive to their director, for the sake of their well -being and public perception. A statesman cannot afford to sound perpetually agitated, poorly informed or out of contact with the responsibilities of leadership in a modern democracy.

“While this administration works 24 hours to rebuild the economy, ensuring the nation and restoring confidence in public institutions, Mr. Obi continues to offer little more than sound, sermons and reactionary comments. Without policy, without proposals, only perpetual complaints.”

He classified Peter Obi’s comments as noise and not leadership and patriotism.

He added: “If you have significant contributions to do, allow them to present them, carefully and responsibly. Otherwise, silence remains an honorable option.

“As for us in the APC, and under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we continue to focus on the serious business of governance, not on the daily performance theater of political opportunists.”
