The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Petroleum), Heineken Lokpobiri, has marked the construction of the permanent site for the academy of Oil and Gas de Bauchi, Alkaleri (Bogaa), which said that the movement of the Bauchi state government will contribute to the development of the human capacity of the federal government in the energy sector.
The minister, during the event, explained that the imperative to activate all the oil platforms available for greater production, led President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to grant approvals for the issuance of all critical regulatory licenses for Kolmani integrated development projects when he said: “Our goal is to make all productive oil platforms count towards national growth.”
According to a statement from the media and communication of SA, Nneamaka Okafor, Lokpobiri also highlighted the president's broader agenda to take advantage of the potential of the Nigeria energy sector in promoting economic prosperity.
“Mr. President is intentional about the transformation of our energy landscape into one that feeds industrial growth, creates jobs and improves national income.”
Praising the state of Bauchi for aligning with the national vision, Lokpobiri said that the establishment of the Academy demonstrates the approach of future thought of the State for the participation of the energy sector, saying: “With this academy, Bauchi is making a strategic contribution to the development of human capital necessary to boost our forward sector.”
The minister also pointed out the abundant fossil fuel reserves within the country and emphasized the importance of local capacity in the management and maintenance of the sector, since it recognized the continuous efforts of the federal government, through the Petrolular Technology Development Fund (PTDF), to support human capital and technological advancement.
“PTDF has played a fundamental role in ensuring that our sector is not only productive but also ready for the future,” said the minister, expressing the hope that Bogaa would establish a solid association with the PTDF to guarantee the success and sustainability of its programs, “Lokpobiri said.
Governor Balado Mohammed thanked the federal government for his support and reiterated the State's commitment to the success of the Academy.
“This institution will serve as the basis for the acquisition and innovation of skills that will benefit not only the state of Bauchi but to the entire nation,” said the governor.
