The governor of the state of Oyo, Seyi Makinde, will direct notable dignitaries in the 7th competition of young artists among the 20 secondary schools in Ibadan.
The competition, which is being gathered by The Artists Hub school of Thevyoung, together with the National Museum of Unity, will celebrate on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the National Unit Museum, Ashinlye, Ibadan.
His coordinator, the artist Olaide Turner-Moyet revealed that the long-awaited event would gather 20 public and private secondary schools in Ibadan for a solid contest in visual arts, music, dance, poetry, crafts and oratory.
'This year's edition promises to be particularly vibrant, with a strong presence of notable dignitaries and artistic icons. Among the special guests of honor are the Commissioners of Education, Science and Technology of Oyo de Oyo, Excmo. According to Olayiwola, and for culture and tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun. Also decorating the event is Mrs. Oriyomi Pamela Otuka, Zonal Director (South West) and curator of the National Unit Museum ”
The boss Tunde Odunlade, a renowned teacher and artist respected, will preside over the event, while the famous artist based in Ibadan, Mr. omofemi Oluwole, feels as an artist of the time. Anchoring the event is the personality of the media and the correspondent with Prince 89.7fm, Olawale Ogunbusola.
Speaking at a press conference prior to the event on Friday, Turner-Moyet emphasized that competition serves as a cultural rebirth for younger generations.
“The idea is to proud our African, being black,” said Moyet. “Music, drama, poetry, crafts, these are not only art forms only for entertainment, they are glasses of our identity. This initiative is a continuum of ancestral tools to express and appreciate life.”
She explained that the initiative has been a decade in creation, with the aim of instilling cultural pride and continuity through creative expression.
He pointed out that the essence of socialization, networks and the appreciation of innateness, adding that the event will greatly help support the exposure and social networks of students' participants beyond physical contacts.
Students of Government -financed schools and private schools, including the St. Louis School of Grammar, Ikolaba Grammar School, Oba Akinbiyi Model School, Loyola College, Bodija International College, The Vale College, Prime College, Qiblah College, among others, will participate. The competition will reward winners with valuable educational awards and support tools.
The competition of the young Arthub artists continues to be a lighthouse of cultural education, innovation and creative growth for the youth of Ibadan and beyond.
