The Federal Government has announced plans to evacuate Nigerian citizens stranded in Israel and Iran, after the climbing of hostilities between the two countries.
In a statement issued Tuesday night, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, said that the agreements were ending to guarantee the safe return of the affected citizens, with Nigerian embassies in Tel Aviv and actively teh will tehs the citizens and coordinate the evacuation efforts.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that after the escalation of the crisis between the state of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the federal government is ending the agreements for the emergency evacuation of the Nigerians stranded in both countries,” reads partly.
“Therefore, all affected Nigerian citizens are strongly recommended that comply with the necessary security protocols and communicate with the nearest Nigerian embassy or mission for registration and additional instructions.”
The Ministry praised the dedication of its diplomatic personnel in both countries, describing their efforts to reach the Nigerian community during the crisis as commendable. He also assured the public the unwavering commitment of the government with the security and well -being of the Nigerians abroad.

“We want to ensure the general public that the Federal Government of Nigeria remains committed to the safety and well -being of all its citizens, both at home and abroad, and is working in close coordination with international partners and relevant local authorities to guarantee the timely and safe evacuation of Nigerians in the affected areas,” he said.
In a separate appeal, the government renewed its call to a high immediate fire between Israel and Iran and urged all parties to prioritize the dialogue and protection of civilians.
“In the same line, the Nigeria government reiterates its call to the immediate cessation of hostilities and urges all parties involved to adopt dialogue, respect international humanitarian law and prioritize the protection of civilians.
“Nigeria remains firm in support of the peaceful resolution of conflicts and reaffirms its long -standing commitment to regional and global peace and stability,” added the ministry.
