Mokwa flood: Niger Government orders the celebration of EID-el-Kabir Discreet, suspends Durbar

After the devastating flood disaster that devastated Mokwa and the surrounding communities, Governor Umaru Bago of the state of Niger has directed a celebration of Eid-El Kabir Sallah, the suspension of Hawan Bariki, Durbar and other activities of Sallah elaborated in all the issues of the state.

Flood claims lives, displacing thousands and causing extensive destruction to houses, farmland and infrastructure.

A statement signed by the Secretary of the State Government (SSG), Abubakar Usman emphasized that this decision was taken as a mark of respect for the victims of the tragic incident and to allow a period of grief, prayer and reflection.

The flood of Mokwa, described as one of the worst in decades, has left afflicted families, houses and life destroyed, added the statement.

The governor urged citizens to use the occasion to pray for the deceased souls and participate in charity acts for the affected communities.
