In a great advance in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime, agents of the National Drug Application Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted illicit drugs valued at more than N3.4 billion and discovered a cache of 942 explosives in coordinated operations in rivers and states of lakes.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Ndlea spokesman, Femi Babafemi, operations led to the recovery of two million tramadol pills (225mg) and 163,000 bottles of CodeÃn syrup during a joint examination of a container that comes in the Port Harcourt Ports complex, on April 29.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Customs Service of Nigeria and other security agencies.
In an related operation in the state of Lagos, the Ndlea agents also recovered 1.5 million pills of a controlled opioid in the Alaba Rago de Eye area.
The declaration in part said: “The agents of the Law of the National Drug Law, Ndlea, have intercepted no less than three million five hundred thousand (3,500,000) opioid pills and one hundred sixty -three thousand (163,000) bottles of codeine with value of combined streets of more than three hundred and one hundred science and typiestres millions (N3,428,000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000,000,000 00.00.00).
Most of the seizures: two million Tafrodol 225mg pills and 163,000 bottles of codeine syrup, were held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 during a joint examination of a surveillance container by the NDLEA officers, customs service men and other security agencies in the port complex of Port Harcourt, in the state of the cases.
“In Lagos, a total of 1,500,000 pills of a controlled opioid of a suspect Olarenwaju Wahab were recovered in the Alabago-Rago de Eye on Tuesday, April 29, while the source of the consignment dates back to Q104b Road 25, Victoria Garden City, Lekki, which is the residence of an Obinna Kenneth who is now in general.”
Babafemi said that in the state of Kaduna, where a routine patrol along the Kaduna-Zaria highway on May 3 led to the interception of a commercial vehicle in Nasarawa.
He said a search revealed 942 hidden explosives in a sack.
“In Kaduna, the Ndlea agents in Patrol throughout Kaduna – Zaria Expressway on Saturday, May 3, intercepted a commercial vehicle from the state of Nasarawa that goes to the state of Zamfara.
“A vehicle search led to the discovery of a total of nine hundred forty -two (942) hidden explosives in a sack and the subsequent arrest of a 30 -year -old suspect Nura Sani Muhammad (aka Nura Hariji),” he said.
Babafemi also said at the Metala Muhammed International Airport, IKEJA, Operations of NDLEA intercepted 42 plots of Canadian Loud, a powerful cannabis tension, hidden in food cans aboard a British Airway flight from Canada.
He added that three suspects, including the receiver, Monsurat Lawson, were arrested between April 30 and May 3.
