Nigeria’s efforts to modernize its agricultural sector received a significant boost when a high-level delegation led by the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, and the Director General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), Mr. Joseph Tegbe, commenced a series of strategic engagements with prominent agribusiness companies in Beijing, China.
The delegation visited Beijing Doudian Yisheng Halal Meat Industry Co. Ltd and CP Food Layers and Eggs Ltd, two important companies in China’s livestock and poultry sector.
These visits were part of ongoing efforts to accelerate the development of Nigeria’s livestock industry and promote agro-industrial growth in Kaduna State and across the country.
This initiative complements NCSP’s previous meetings with DQY Ecological Farm, a major subsidiary of the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) group and one of China’s leading agricultural technology platforms.
The facility tours and high-level discussions are part of broader efforts to improve Nigeria’s livestock sector and strengthen the agricultural value chain in Kaduna State and beyond.
According to officials involved in the mission, the engagements were aimed at enhancing technical cooperation, finalizing project frameworks and securing long-term investment commitments from Chinese partners.
The NCSP emphasized that this mission aligns with the Federal Government’s strategic priorities for food security, agricultural industrialization and increased foreign investment, as outlined in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting collaborative initiatives that drive large-scale agricultural transformation and foster sustainable economic growth.
A key element of this collaboration is the establishment of a landmark $200 million integrated national poultry development project, the pilot phase of which will be launched in Kaduna State.
The project is designed to be replicated across all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria and is expected to become one of the most technologically advanced poultry ventures in West Africa.
This initiative aims to reduce the market cost of eggs and other poultry products through efficient large-scale production.
Once fully operational, the Kaduna pilot is expected to generate over $450 million annually and create over 350,000 direct and indirect jobs within the national poultry value chain.
Analysts believe the initiative will significantly strengthen food production capacity, accelerate agro-industrialization, improve export competitiveness and contribute substantially to Nigeria’s economic diversification efforts.
The delegation expressed its deep gratitude to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for its continued partnership and commitment to the agricultural development of Nigeria.
Chinese institutions involved in the visit demonstrated great interest in expanding investment and technological cooperation with Nigeria.
The NCSP reiterated its dedication to fostering impactful bilateral partnerships that strengthen Nigeria-China relations, accelerate agricultural modernization and create inclusive economic opportunities for millions of Nigerians.
