President Bola Tinubu has reported that Nigeria should be a nation of producers instead of just being consumers.
He said this in his speech of the Independence Day to the Nigerians on Wednesday, saying that it was time for the country to be a consumer nation to a producer.
“Let’s be a nation of producers, not only of consumers. We aggravate our lands and build factories to process our products. Let’s proof the goods made in Nigeria. I say Nigeria first,” said Tinubu.
The president explained that the reforms such as eliminating fuel subsidies and the unification of exchange rates were difficult but necessary to restore the economy.

“We chose the path of reform. We chose the path of tomorrow about today’s comfort,” he said.
Tinubu added that the results are beginning to show, noting that Nigeria registered a 4.23% GDP growth in the second quarter of 2025, while inflation fell to the lowest in three years.
“The worst is over, I say. Yesterday’s pains are giving way to relief,” he told citizens.
He also urged the Nigerians to join the construction of a self -sufficient nation.
Tinubu added: “The precise measure of our success will not be only in economic statistics, but at food at the tables of our families, the quality of education that our children receive, electricity in our homes and security in our communities.”
