The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has found out that more than one million students were admitted to colleges and universities in Nigeria without the right process.
JAMB’s top official, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, talked about this on Thursday in Abuja during a meeting about 2023/2024 school admissions.
At this meeting, leaders of colleges and universities and other important people came together to talk about how students get admitted.
Prof Oloyede said that JAMB managed to make 600 of these illegal admissions official.
He also mentioned that many of these students didn’t meet the basic requirements needed for their chosen courses.
“Over 1 million students were admitted illegally. We registered about 600 of them because a lot of them don’t have the basic qualifications,” Oloyede explained.
