National Orientation Agency (NOA), security agencies, religious leaders and other relevant stakeholders have taken advantage of the need for national cohesion and unity to combat the numerous challenges of the nation, including national security.
The interested parties in a meeting with the subject, 'on the way to national cohesion', transmitted by the direction of the state of Oyo de Noa in Ibadan, said that the call is imperative when noticing that nothing can be achieved as a divided nation.
The meeting, according to its convening, aims to overcome the challenges of the Nation and promote a peaceful environment that can trigger unity and significant development.
In her opening comments, the director of the state of Oyo de Noa, Mrs. Ajolayo Sinmiat Akande, said that the national commitment was essential to address the critical challenges of security and unity, such as insurgency, bandit, extremism, youth restriction, political rat, the conflict of the street lamp and secessionist agitation through localized interventions.
“The improvement of our country, economic prosperity, peaceful coexistence and strong social ties require our collective efforts. This meeting will offer a road map to our national cohesion, development and unity.
“In the state of Oyo here, particularly, we are harassed with recurring challenges of the political matrix, the confrontations of the pastor's passengers. This does not mean that we do not have other problems,” he said.
In his message of goodwill, the president of the state of Oyo of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Otunba Ade Fagbemi, denounced the political matrix, asking the agencies to apply the law that are more efficient in their approach to address insecurity.
The president of the event and the General Director of the Mobilization Agency of the State of Oyo for Socio -Economic Development (Oymased), Dr. Morunkola Thomas, appreciated all critical interested parties.
Thomas, who was represented by Mrs. Adetunji, expressed hope of improving policies to overcome the dual challenges of political slaughter and farmers' chocas once and for all. Also speaking, Ekotedo Baale, Chief Taiye Ayorinde and a police assistant commissioner, Oyo state command, Olubunmi Apapa, who requested collaboration between the police and community leaders.
Other parties interested in the meeting included the Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Alhaja Iswat Oyinlola Ameringun; Comrade Abdulalam Kadiri – President of the National Youth Council; Akingbade Abiodun, who represented Amotekun, Mallam Yusuf Bakare of the shepherds and a large number of others.
