Oasis will return to Knebworth, 30 years after his famous 1996 concerts that came to define the Britpop era.
In the apogee of his fame, the band played 250,000 fans for two nights on the grounds of Knebworth House in Hertfordshire. To commemorate the anniversary, five shows are being aligned for the summer of 2026, extending the meeting tour of Liam and Noel Gallagher.
Industry sources say that the brothers have accumulated dates after a world tour that, according to reports, generated up to £ 1.2 billion. Knebworth’s shows could generate other £ 100 million.
A source said: “Talk about the opportunity to take advantage. After all these years of insisting that they will not be together again, now Liam and Noel have these dates on hold, they have been labeled in five days for concerts.
“Everything is very exciting for fans. In 1996, it was so special. It was Britpop’s pinnacle, so Oasis returning to Knebworth would be perfect for fans.
“The plan is for five concerts in what will be an extravagance musical. First, fans obtained a meeting tour. Now it seems that they can relive those two performances in Knebworth.”
When Oasis played there in 1996, it is said that more than 2% of the town of the United Kingdom requested tickets, which sold out in less than a day. Liam returned for two solo concerts in 2022, a year after a documentary about the shows was released.
The brothers met last year after 15 years of public rows and separations, including their infamous fight in Rock at Seine Festival in Paris in 2009, where Liam broke Noel’s guitar just before they should on stage.
Now together, the Gallaghers launched their meeting tour in Cardiff on July 4 and are currently playing exhausted shows in the United States. The weekend, 90,000 people performed at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, with Sir Paul McCartney, Rita Ora and Leonardo DiCaprio in the crowd.
McCartney, who joined the wife Nancy Shevell, saw how Oasis performed the birthday of the Beatles Classics and saw her stop there, and described the night as “fabulous.”
The band photographer Kevin Cummins has suggested that a new Oasis album could follow. He said Noel has been writing songs on the tour and believes that Liam’s voice is suitable for them.
“I don’t see why they couldn’t enter the studio and record an album,” Cummins said.
“Noel is writing songs all the time and voice of Liam is very suitable for what Noel writes. Liam has matured a lot. He is quite self -critical. There is a lot of love on the stage between them.”
