Benin Monarch, HRM, Oba Ewuare II, has accused the newly appointed medical director of the Teaching Hospital of the University of Benin (UBTH), Prof. (Mrs.) Idia enibokun Ize-Iyamu, to impact on the services for the provision of medical care for people.

Oba Ewuare II gave the warning while the host of Professor Ize-Iyamu, who was at the monarch’s palace on a courtesy visit on Thursday in Benin.

The traditional first -class ruler congratulated the CMD from the hospital for his appointment and promised the support of his palace to his management team.

He praised President Bola Tinubu for putting the merit above the feelings and finding Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu worthy of the appointment, which he described as a “round plug in a round hole.”

Benin Monarch appealed to the UBTH management team to support the chief medical director, who explained that “he has done very well to represent the female gender.

“You are a professional. Congratulations Lady. It is appropriate that he is the main medical director of UBTH.

“We are happy that they have chosen you. We know that you will do your best for UBTH to be a success.

“Be sure to have our support.

Lord God Almighty and our ancestors will grant you our prayer for you.

“I am also glad that there is no gender discrimination in UBTH as the first women’s medical director,” said Oba Ewuare II for the delight of his guests and palace leaders.

Going to Benin’s throne, Ize-Iyamu, declared that management was in the Palace to formally inform OBA about its appointment.

She sought the blessings of the OBA so that she fulfilled her duties effectively and highlighted her transformative mission statement to improve medical services in UBTH.
