Governor Ahmed Ododo, on Monday, launched radical reforms in the health sector, including the expanded health insurance coverage, the revitalization of primary health centers throughout the state and new incentives for medical staff.
In a search on the occasion, he described the initiatives as “an important step to make quality medical care accessible, affordable and sustainable for each Kogite.”
He assured that his administration remains committed to strengthening health infrastructure while prioritizing the well -being of health workers.
Consequently, the governor announced an assignment of N300,000 for doctors that doctors published in the rural areas of the State to encourage service in difficult access communities.
He also revealed plans to sponsor the training of 100 medical doctors annually in association with the Federal University, Lokoja; Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba; and the University of Science and Technology of Confluence, Osara, as part of the Government’s long -term strategy to address labor gaps in the health sector.
Ododo also revealed that doctors’ rooms would be built in strategic parts of the state, while qualified kogitas would continue to benefit from new appointments in the health system.
By ensuring support for health professionals, he emphasized that security remains critical for the welfare of citizens.
The governor raised concerns about the safety risks raised by the trailer parks in Tsariagi and Osara, which, according to intelligence reports, had become hiding places for criminal elements disguised as truck drivers.
He gave the parks operators an ultimatum of one month to vacate the locations, after which no trailer will be allowed to be stacked there or in any other unauthorized area of ​​the State, particularly during the hours prohibited by law.
He addressed the security agencies to guarantee the complete application of the order, saying that the measure is necessary to deny criminals any safe refuge and strengthen security operations throughout the state of Kogi.
Ododo expressed their gratitude to the development partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, CiHP, AHF, the Malaria consortium and Marie Stopes International, for their support to improve health provision in the state of Kogi.
By reaffirming the approach of his administration in the government -centered government, the governor declared: “Together, we are building a state of Kogi where good health is a right, not a privilege; where security is guaranteed and where each citizen has a fair opportunity to live, work and prosper.”
