…honored as distinguished personalities along with others on Lagelu FM at 10
A member of the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, representative of the National Assembly, Honorable Remi Oseni, has assured the commitment of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, to set a new development agenda for Ibadanland.
He stated that this would attract local and foreign investors, besides creating employment opportunities for the youth.
Tribune Online recalls that Oba Ladoja recently inaugurated the economic team to accelerate the economic growth of the city and create employment opportunities for the youth.
Oseni, in a secondary interview after being honored along with others as distinguished personalities at the 10th anniversary of an Ibadan-based radio station, Lagelu FM, at the weekend, said with the inauguration of the economic teams, most of the moribund businesses would be given a breath of life.
He said the inauguration of the various committees has further demonstrated Olubadan’s leadership qualities.
“Ibadan will experience comprehensive growth during the reign of Oba Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“Kabiyesi is a man of many facets: an experienced administrator, businessman and politician. With his vast experience in relevant fields, it cannot be denied that the ancient city will undergo comprehensive development.
“The newly inaugurated Olubadan economic team is a testimony to this,” he said.
Receiving the award, he praised the contribution of the Lagelu FM station for its contribution to the media industry as well as the development of Oyo State and Nigeria in general.
He said: “It takes the wisdom of visionary leadership to steer the affairs of a radio station over the past ten years, still counting, in the face of enormous economic challenges.
“The Lagelu FM station has weathered many storms and continues to go from strength to strength. I congratulate the entire management team.”
In his speech, the owner of West Midlands Communication, Oba Murtala Adebayo Akande, revealed that the station was created ten years ago to give a voice to the people of Ibadan.
According to him, Lagelu FM has become more than just a frequency on the dial; has become a movement, a bridge between generations and a beacon of authentic Yoruba expression in broadcasting.
In the same vein, the Managing Director and CEO of the organisation, Mrs Atinuke Adetunji, stated that the broadcaster has demonstrated that when purpose meets passion, even airwaves can become an instrument of transformation.
“At West Midlands Communication we have always believed that broadcasting is not just about sound – it is about substance,” he said.
Furthermore, in his speech, the General Manager of Operations, Mr. Tunde Olawuwo, said the station has been able to bridge the gap between sophistication and culture, between modern broadcasting and the soul of the community.
