The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, on Monday visited teachers and students rescued from captivity following their abduction in Oriire Local Government Area of ​​Oyo, and commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for securing their freedom.
He also, during the visit, donated cash to the victims to support their recovery after the 56-day ordeal.
A statement signed by the Alaafin Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, noted that the monarch paid a solidarity visit to the rescued victims at the Headquarters, Second Medical Services Division and Hospital of Odogbo Military Cantonment, Ojoo, Ibadan where they were receiving medical attention before being handed over to the Oyo State Government.

Oba Owoade described the successful rescue operation as a testament to the commitment and professionalism of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies in the fight against terrorism and banditry.
According to him, the Nigerian Army has continued to record significant successes through intelligence-driven operations and sustained offensives against criminal elements.
He said: “Our military is making vital progress in the fight against terrorism through aggressive intelligence-led operations and precision strikes that continue to degrade insurgents’ logistical networks.”
He added that the recent operation, which led to the rescue of the kidnapped teachers and students, highlighted the effectiveness of coordinated security efforts in dismantling criminal networks.
The monarch also commended traditional rulers and other stakeholders for their unwavering support and prayers throughout the period the victims were held captive.
He advised the security agencies to maintain the momentum in the ongoing fight against terrorism, kidnapping and other violent crimes to ensure safety of lives and property across the country.
Alaafin, however, offered prayers for the victims and wished them a speedy physical and emotional recovery as they reunite with their families and resume their normal lives..
