The governor of the state of Ekiti, Biodun Oyebanji, has promised that his administration will immortalize the late vice president, the youth parliament of Ekiti, Damilola Fatimat Agbaje, to promote roles modeling, urging the Nigerian young people to every minute of their lives have the purpose and intention.
The governor spoke in Ado-Ekiti, during a special plenary session of the Youth Parliament of the State of Ekiti, held in honor of its late vice president, Rt. Excmo Oluwadamilola Fatimat Agbaje, in the complex of the Ekiti State Assemblies.
Agbaje died on June 11, 2025, after a brief disease.
To complement what Oyebanji promised, the chief of cabinet of President Bola Tinubu and the former president of the House of Representatives, Rt. Excmo Femi Gbajabiamila promised to erect a monument and institute a prize prize of the legislative mentoring initiative (LMI), an initiative of his, in the name of the deceased to immortalize it.
Governor Oyebanji, who was represented in the event by the Youth Development Commissioner, Hon. Adesola Gold Adedayo said: “I want our youth to know that, life is so short, even to the fullest, when one lives up to 100 years, it is still very expensive, but tomorrow is not promising to anyone.
“Yesterday, of course, it was a gift as they say, today it is in our hands, make hay while the sun shines, live a shocking life, contribute to your quota to anything, wherever you are today. As I said, tomorrow is not a promise.”
Adedayo, who assured that the deceased Agbaje would be immortalized by the state government, said: “As I told the representative of the Damilola family, we will return to the ministry and work with the president of the Chamber of the Chamber of the Chamber of the Assembly on the development of young people and students and we will take the governor, after the approval of the grace of God, we will communicate it to people to know.”
While reading the governor’s condolence letter to Damilola’s family at the meeting, he said: “I sadly received the news of the premature disappearance of his daughter and our star, Damilola Agbaje. His painful death is too much; and an irreparable loss, not only of the family, but of all the Ekiti.
“Damilola represented the promise of Ekiti’s future. His brilliance shone like the ascending sun; she was passionate, bold, beautiful and intelligent. His disappearance has denied our state one of our promising leaders of tomorrow. As the vice president of the youth parliament of Ekiti, he was renowned for his excellent articulation, logical reasoning and clarity of thought.
“It was sad that we lost it at the dawn of a glorious day, since it was on the cusp of finishing its bar exam when this happened.
“By painful as his death is for all of us, we must be comforted by the impact he has had in his brief but agitated life. On behalf of my wife, the government and the good people of the state of Ekiti, they accept my sincere condolences for you, the brothers and the whole family.”
Gbajabiamila, who was represented by the Vice President of Initiative for Legislative Mentor’s (LMI), Alumni Association, Adenuga Boluwatife, in his tribute to the deceased, said that Damilola’s life was very short, but it was quite shocking.
“She achieved a lot in just 22 years of her life, and it was one of the best companions of the LMI. Damilola’s death has brought a disconsolate moment for everyone in LMI, the management and the body of alumni. Our message for the family, the youth parliament of the state of Ekiti, and the state of Ekiti in general is to be strong at this time difficult,” he said.
He pointed out that a virtual commemorative service was carried out for her, that the founder of LMI, Gbajabiamila, was skillfully present from the beginning to the end.
