PDP Candidate to NASS Backs Igbo Presidency

Commits to developing the electorate if elected

A candidate for the House of Representatives, Ihiala Federal District, Johnmary Akachukwu Maduakolam, has thrown his support behind the call for an Igbo-origin president in 2023.

Maduakolam, campaigning on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform, gave his backing by answering questions from journalists in Nnewi, Anambra state, yesterday, insisting it is a legitimate demand.

He stated that the issue of the marginalization of Ndigbo and the southeastern region would be addressed if an Igboman were to emerge as president of Nigeria in 2023.

He noted that it is only fair that all lovers of fairness and justice in the country support the aspirations of the people of the Southeast to produce the next president, regardless of their tribal and political affiliations.

“The quest for the Igbo presidency is legitimate and since there are qualified Nigerians from all over, supporting an Igbo candidate will surely deepen democracy and help calm nerves,” he said.

He reaffirmed that his program designed for the constituency would add to the development and growth of the people in the area as well as Anambra State in general.

“I have drawn up a template to start four development centers in the four areas of the ihiala Local Council. The centers will serve as constituency offices and will be coordinating activities in the area,” he noted.

He said other programs include ensuring young people have access to pursue their educational dreams, backed with a quality and functional guarantee scheme to bridge the gap between private schools and public schools, adding that revolving loans will also be available for young people who want to dedicate themselves to agriculture, among other assistance opportunities.
