Preparations for the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, have received a major seal of approval as members of the PDP Convention Committee expressed their absolute satisfaction with the infrastructure and preparedness of the host state.

The praise followed a detailed inspection visit to the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, the designated venue for the historic meeting.

The inspection team, comprising senior members of the National Convention Committee, arrived at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, and was warmly welcomed by the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke.

The team, led on the tour by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, meticulously inspected every facet of the complex, including the spacious main bowl, the condition of public and delegate toilet facilities, the surrounding training ground, the stadium lighting systems and other essential infrastructure and logistics points crucial to hosting thousands of delegates and leaders of matches.

The state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, while receiving the team, assured the capacity of the state. “We have been tasked by the Governor, His Excellency Eng. Seyi Makinde, to ensure that the newly refurbished Lekan Salami Stadium not only hosts a memorable convention but sets a new standard for political gatherings in Nigeria,” he said. “All of our facilities are up to scratch and we are working around the clock on the finishing touches to ensure a hassle-free experience for every delegate and visitor.”

It will be the most organized convention

Honorable. Olajide Speaking to newsmen immediately after the inspection, the Secretary of the PDP Convention Committee, Honorable Stanley Olajide, conveyed the overwhelming approval of the committee to the arrangements in Oyo State.

Honorable. Olajide expressed his deep gratitude to the state governor and emphasized that the tour served as a crucial preliminary assessment that yielded exceptional results.

“Honestly, our preliminary assessment of the state of facilities in Oyo State has been very satisfactory,” said Hon. Olajide declared.

“We have seen the commitment on the ground. The structures are solid, the environment is secured and the enthusiasm is palpable. I have no doubt that the upcoming PDP National Convention in Ibadan will be one of the most successful and indeed best organized events in the history of our great party.”

He further commended the state helmsman for his dedicated service to the party, adding: “Governor Seyi Makinde’s unwavering commitment to the progress of the PDP is evident in the quality of the preparations we have witnessed here today. We thank him for his exemplary leadership.”

Addressing security concerns, a critical aspect of any large political gathering, the PDP Convention Committee Secretary gave strong assurances.

“The issue of security during the convention is one of our top priorities,” said the Hon. Olajide stated. “We would like to assure all our delegates, party leaders and observers across the country that the committee is carefully managing security arrangements. We are working closely with all state security apparatuses to ensure a safe and serene environment throughout the event.”

This successful inspection reaffirms the commitment of the Oyo State Government and the PDP National Convention Committee to host a historic event that will further strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
