Except for the changes of last minute, the House of Representatives will carry out a budget defense on Wednesday in the N1,481 billion proposed for the state of Rivers for fiscal year 2025, the Nigerian Tribune has gathered with authority.
The proposed budget defense is being organized by the Ad-Hoc Committee of the supervision of the State of Rivers, chaired by the Hon. Julius Ihonvbere.
To this end, it is expected that the only administrator of the state of Rivers, the Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete were, make a formal presentation to the Ad-Hoc Committee.
Remember that President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, formally requested the approval of the Chamber for the sum of N1,481 billion as the 2025 budget proposal for the state of Rivers.
President Tinubu's request was read by the speaker Tajudeen Abass during Plenary.
A breakdown of the proposed budget shows that the sum of N324 billion is assigned for infrastructure, which covers current and new projects.
The sum of N166 billion is intended for health, including N5 billion for free medications for the treatment of malaria and other common ailments.

A total of N75.6 billion for education are assigned, while N31.4 billion for agriculture is proposed, which is projected to generate approximately 6,000 jobs, together with other expense plans that prioritize investment in critical sectors of the State.
By pointing out that the state of Rivers is currently under the emergency rule, proclaimed and properly gazelle in March 2025, Mr. President acknowledged that the 2025 money bill requires the authorization of the National Assembly for the expenses of the consolidated income of the State of Rivers in the absence of a state assembly.
Subsequently, the budget proposal was approved through the second reading on the floor of the Chamber on Thursday, May 28, 2025, and referred to the Ad-Hoc Committee led by IHonvbere for more legislative actions.
