The governor of the state of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-olu, has approved the establishment of the APAPA Central Business District Agency that aims to address infrastructure maintenance challenges and promote a conducive business environment in the State.
The Governor's Special Advisor in the Central Business District (CBD), Excmo. (Mrs.) Olumegbon-Lawal Ball, announced this on Thursday during the 2025 ministerial press news session to commemorate the second anniversary of the second mandate of Governor Sanwo-olu in the position held at the Bagauda Kalthuda Press Center in Alausa.

Olumegbon-Lawal said that the movement for the APAPA Central Business District Agency followed the successes registered in the commercial districts of Lagos and Iikeja, emphasizing the transformative changes under the leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu, which had significantly improved the infrastructure and economy of lakes.
Olumegbon-Lawal, while describing the continuous efforts of the central commercial districts of Lagos (CBD) in the creation of a friendly business environment, declared that its mission includes effective traffic management, environmental sanitation and the reduction of illegal streets trade.
This was just when it also highlighted the agency's collaboration initiatives with several agencies, including the Waste Management Authority of the State of Lagos (Lawma) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), to guarantee security and compliance within the commercial districts.
In the continuous elimination of illegal structures and the application of a “non -trade” trade policy, the special advisor said it was implemented to guarantee ordered trade, urging interested parties to actively support government initiatives to further improve the vitality of Lagos as shopping centers.
Speaking more, Olumegbon-Lawal emphasized the importance of regular commitment to interested parties, saying that regular parleys with transport unions and market leaders had to promote cooperation.
The governor's assistant, although he pointed out that the integral approach of the CBD was aimed at positioning Lagos as a main commercial destination in line with international standards, however, he reassured the public the government's commitment to maintain security and order, urging all Lagosians to adhere to traffic and environmental regulations.
