Some participants in a one -day awareness workshop on the need to maintain the standards, organized by the organization of Nigeria standards (Son) in Yola today, have described it as very rewarding.
Chief Samuel Ailoje, a block molding CEO and one of the participants, said the workshop sensitized it even more about the need to adhere to standards as a block molder.
“My quality products will not only satisfy my customers, but, to a large extent, they will help save lives. If you see the way the houses are collapsing due to blocks of lower quality and other construction materials, it becomes a serious concern,” he said.

He added: “If we have quality goods and services that can compete with the best in the world, our economy will improve, both for people and for the country in general.”
“This workshop is good for us in the production industry; it should be newspaper,” he concluded.
One of the resource people in the workshop, Dr. Libaru Musa, praised a child for the sensitization effort, emphasizing that such workshops will not only create wealth for the nation and individuals, but also instill a culture of quality consciousness.
She added: “When quality standards are maintained, lives and properties are protected and our products are recommended more widely.”
Previously, the general director and executive director of his child, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunoso, in his speech, declared that the awareness workshop aims to ensure that both the goods and the provision of services are of high standards.
Dr. IFEANYI emphasized that the Nigeria Standards Organization (SON) is committed to the national vision of “Nigeria First” and guarantee the safety of Nigerians at all times.
He said that the fundamental role of the standardization in the promotion of the economic development of the Nation cannot be emphasized too much, and added: “Today's workshop is an opportunity for all of us to obtain a deepest understanding of the crucial role that the standards play in the configuration of the future of our industries and our nation.”
“We are here to sensitize several interested parties (government, industry, vendors, suppliers, retailers and academia) with the importance of standards to achieve our collective goals,” he said.
He stressed that these standards help improve the quality of Nigerian products, improve security and efficiency, meet global expectations and increase global competitiveness, essential factors for industrial growth, employment creation, economic development and sustainable growth.
He added that standardization is not just about adjusting to the rules, but that it is the basis of industrial growth, consumer protection, innovation and international trade.
“Without strong, applicable and enforceable standards, there can be no sustainable economic advance,” he said.
“Our abundant natural and human resources must be processed, packaged and presented with quality and consistency that comply with global standards. This ensures that our goods are safe, competitive and acceptable not only locally, but worldwide. When a Nigerian product carries the brand of the quality of Son, they must symbolize excellence and reliability.
“From agricultural products in Yola to products manufactured in ABA, the standards must be our confidence language.
“With the development of capacities, collaboration and alignment with the African Continental Free Trade area (AFCFTA), we want Nigerian products to meet regional and international standards.
“Standardization is not a burden; it is a bridge towards competitiveness, prosperity and national pride,” he concluded.
