The number of people who are still in Kerr County, Texas, devastated by floods, has significantly decreased from almost 100 to only three, according to local officials.
In an update published by the city of Kerville, the authorities said that wide coordination between state and local agencies has helped locate and verify the safety of dozens of people who chose to disappear previously.
“This has been a continuous effort since the researchers worked diligently to verify the reports of the missing persons and confirm their status,” reads the statement.

At the beginning of the week, the authorities reported that 97 people in Kerr County were missing and not counted and after the mortal floods of Texas on July 4. At its peak, more than 160 people appeared as missing in the county.
The administrator of the city of Kerville, Dalton Rice, praised the massive recovery efforts carried out by more than 1,000 personnel from several agencies. “We are deeply grateful … Thanks to their extraordinary efforts, the number of individuals previously listed as missing has fallen from more than 160 to three,” he said.
Beyond Kerr County, three people remain missing in Travis County and one in Burnet County, according to the most recent state update.
The number of deaths in general of the floods of July 4 in Texas has increased to 134. Kerr County only represented 107 deaths, including 70 adults and 37 children.
Search and recovery efforts are ongoing.
