The leader of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom, Kemi Badenoch, faces a renewed scrutiny about his academic history after a former admission officer at Stanford University defied his claim to receive an offer an offer to study pre-medical in the United States.
Badenoch has often cited the supposed offer as evidence of his parents’ struggles to ensure good education despite his strong academic history.
She said she had obtained admission to the School of Medicine in Nigeria, as well as the program prior to Stanford’s measurement, but decided to study in Britain because she was more affordable.

Jon Reider, who handled international admissions and scholarships at Stanford at that time, strongly questioned Badenoch’s account.
“Although 30 years have passed, I would definitely remember that if we had admitted a Nigerian student with some financial help. The answer is that we did not,” he told The Guardian UK.
Reider explained that Stanford would not have admitted a 16 -year -old only one depending on the test scores, nor offered a partial scholarship. “If an applicant needed, say, $ 30,000 a year to attend, we would offer them the total amount. It made no sense to offer them less because they could not attend,” he said.
He added that none of his decisions as an admissions officer was annulled by a dean, which makes Badenoch’s statement unlikely.
