The General Auditor of the State of Osun, Kolapo Idris, praised the state governor, Senator Adela Adelek, to handle the State’s finances with transparency.
Idris declared this while presenting the report of the Financial Statements and accounts of the Government of the State of Osun by 2024.
He said that the governor has demonstrated transparency and responsibility in the management of state finances and has charged all interested parties to begin the standard already established by Adelev.
“I must at this juncture praise the governor, Senator Adela Adelek managing state finances with transparency. That has made our work easy. Government’s businesses are being carried out in a way that makes us make it easier for us to do our job,” Idris said.
A warning note sounds to accounting officers and permanent secretaries in the State against ignoring audit consultations when they arise, the general auditor emphasized the importance of a quick response to such consultations.
Speaking more in the event, attended by members of civil society organizations, leaders of market -based associations throughout the State, members of professional accounting organizations, representatives of people living with disabilities and the media, Idris assured that the State would continue to maintain strict compliance with the laws that regulate the government’s business. He added that, from now on, contempt for audit consultations would not be tolerated.
Idris said: “I want to talk to my colleagues, accounting officers about their response to audit consultations. It is something serious. His response to the consultation does not mean that he has satisfied the problems raised in the consultation.
“At the same time, the majority choose not to answer consultations. Your files are arriving at the Office of the General Auditor. Respond to audit consultations. I am saying this so that your file does not remain in our office for a long time. Help to my office.”
WHILE PRESENTING THE STATE’S FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR 2024, THE AUDITOR-GENERAL ADDED, “I HAV AUDITED THE ACCOUTS OF THE GOVERNMENT OF OSUN STATE AS AT 31ST DECEMBER, 2024 AS SET OUT IN CONSOLIDATED STATEMENT OF FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE, CONSOLIDATED STATE. Statement of Cash Flow (Direct and Indirect), Consolidated Statement of Changes in net Asset/Equity, Consolidated Statement of Comparism of Budget and current and Notes to the accounts according to section 125 (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Niger OSUN 2019 (according to amended) ”.

In his comments, the president of the Public Accounts Committee of the Osun Assembly Chamber, Hon. Rasheed Lawal said that by presenting his accounts publicly, Osun had shown that nothing was hidden about his finances.
“By presenting this account publicly, it shows that there is no hidden agenda, either by executives or legislators. On behalf of the other members of the Public Accounts Committee, I encourage all participants and interested parties to listen carefully and not hesitate to seek clarifications when necessary, but always in a way that is constructive and impartial,” said Lawal.
The president of the State of Osun, of the Trade Union Congress, Abimbola Fasei, in his message of goodwill, asked the office of the Attorney General of the Federation to facilitate the release of the monthly assignment seized due to the areas of the local government in the state.
Phaasi, who said that the lack of release of the funds was beginning to have negative impacts in the life of the rural inhabitants in the state, added that there was no basis for the funds to have been retained.
