The Kaduna State Government has announced plans to train and graduate about 32,000 students each year through the newly established vocational training and skill development institute.
The Institute, commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June, has strategically located campus in Rigachikun, Soba and Samaru Kataf.
Speaking at the Institute, the information commissioner, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, said: “This institute is a bold step in the commitment of the Kaduna state government with the acquisition of skills, youth empowerment and economic growth.
“The 14 commercial areas are carefully selected to address the critical needs of labor in construction, energy, ICT, hospitality and creative industries.
“We are sure that the graduates of this institute will not only find employment, but will also become self -employed and create opportunities for others.”
Also speaking, the rector of the institute, Malam Husaini Haruna Muhammad, emphasized the relevance of training: “Our approach is to produce graduates that are ready in the workplace. With 80% of the training is practical, our students obtain real -life competences in their chosen shops.
“These skills are not only relevant to Nigeria’s economy but also competitive in the global stage. We encourage citizens, especially women, people with disabilities and vulnerable young people, to take advantage of this opportunity.”
The teaching model of the State Institute of Kaduna combines qualified instructors, masters handicrafts and qualified retired professionals to ensure that students benefit from the theory and decades of experience in the industry.
“With the complete accreditation of NBTE, the Institute is also part of the TVET initiative of the Federal Government, starting with an initial intake of approximately 2,000 students. The state government has ensured inclusive access for women, people with disabilities (PWD) and vulnerable groups such as the Almajiris.
“With the facilities and human resources already instead, the institute is aimed at the graduation of 16,000 students in their first training phase, advancing towards its annual objective of 32,000 graduates.”
The Kaduna State Government has asked citizens of the entire State and beyond taking this opportunity to acquire skills for employability, business spirit and self -sufficiency.
