The new fiscal laws will improve sustainable development: Oyebanji

The Governor of the State of Ekiti, Biodun Oyebanji, has revealed that the new fiscal reform laws of President Bola Tinubu, when implemented, would improve sustainable development in the country.

Oyebanji, who praised the president for his bold and bold reforms in all sectors, said that the four fiscal laws, as signed, is transformative and a basin in the fiscal administration in Nigeria.

The governor spoke this weekend in Ikogosi Warm Spring and Resort during the strategic withdrawal of the 2025 Joint Tax Board (JTB) with the subject, ‘reimagining the Nigerian fiscal ecosystem: take advantage of the four tax reform laws as the game changes in the tax administration’.

The interested parties were attended by the 36 states, including the president of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Fiscal Reforms, Taiwo Oydelele.

While praising the Board for choosing Ekiti to organize this year’s withdrawal, he said that his administration in almost two years has demonstrated fiscal discipline with impact projects in life, with more people who pay voluntarily taxes, resulting in an increase in the internal income of the state of N6 billion to more than N2 billion within the first 26 months of the administration.

He said: “With the signing of these fiscal reform law by the president and the planned beginning of the implementation as of January 2026, we have presented a historical opportunity to remodel how our country mobilizes income, encourages compliance and offers sustainable development.

“The courage and vision of Mr. President deserve our highest recommendation by aligning with his determination to reposition Nigeria for greatness. These reforms will shape the trajectory of Nigeria’s economy in the coming years.

“Therefore, this withdrawal provides a unique forum to deliberate on the implications of these laws and share our experience and experiences. Although these reforms represent a fundamental change towards a resistant and self -sufficient economy, the real evidence, as with any transformative policy, lies in its implementation.

Speaking, the president, joint tax board, Zacch Adedeji, who praised Governor Oybanji for providing effective leadership so that the internal tax service thrives in the state, said that the issue of retirement was suitable and critically elected to enforce the fiscal reform of President Tinubu at the national level.

ADEDEJI, represented by the Coordinating Director of the Federal Internal Tax Service (FIR), Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, praised the efforts of the Presidential Tax Committee headed by Oydele for the new laws, and added that the Board would guarantee the effective and efficient implementation of the reforms throughout the country.

For his part, the President, the Internal Tax Service of the State of Ekiti, Olaniran Olatona, expressed his appreciation for Governor Oyebanji, who had been a pillar of support to the income process internally generated in the state, which promised to use effectively for the development of the State and that has caused the voluntary fulfillment of the residents of the state residents.

Olatona said that the fiscal system was already equipped for a dynamic change that would generate an improvement in the lives of citizens, since it was the first time that the country experienced a massive reform, which is expected to be beneficial for everyone.
