The president of the Congress of all progressives (APC) in the state of Sokoto, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, has declared Senators Ibrahim Lick and Abubakar Umar Gada Gada politically irrelevant, accusing them of betrayal and opportunism.
Speaking to journalists in Sokoto on Monday, Achida dismissed the claims that Senator Lindo, who represents Sokoto North on the APC platform, leads a faction of the party in the state.
He said that Sokoto is still a hospital state, but warned that his generosity should not be paid with disloyalty.
“Senator Ibrahim lick is not from the state of Sokoto; he is from Zamfara. If he wishes to dispute the 2027 elections, he must do it in his native state. He is welcome to live here like any other Nigerian respectful of the law, but certainly not as a political representative of our people,” said Achida.
The president of APC accused licking a relentless internal battle against the party and attacking its state leader, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
“How the hell can Senator Wamakko insult? That was the final red line. Senator Wamakko made it possible for him to be a senator. His betrayal is unforgettable,” said Achida, insisting that the political career is “finished.”
In addition, he described Lick as a “political responsibility” that he could not deliver his voting unit and the local government in the 2023 general elections.
“We gave him the platform, we gave him the structure and he turned against us. He has bitten his hand that fed him. Both APC and people have repudiated him,” Achida added.
Returning to Senator Gada, who recently claimed to have transferred the members of APC to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Achida said he has no political relevance in Sokoto.
“In the Government elections of 2023, Gada obtained just over 3,500 votes throughout the State. That is less than a strong candidate obtains in a room. It has no future or future in Sokoto’s policy,” said the president.
Achida emphasized that the APC in Sokoto is still united and strong under Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto and the leadership of Senator Wamakko.
“Our party is not under any threat of these selfish individuals. The true APC is intact, working and delivering dividends of democracy to people,” he said.
The efforts to reach the senators lick and gada for comments were not successful, since their attendees declined to answer, but promised to issue a statement after the consultations.
