With less than 24 hours to carry out the choice of goodbye to occupy the vacancy of the federal constituency of northern Ibadan, the members of the Congress of all progressives have expressed doubts about the realization of free, fair and credible elections, as promised by the leadership of the party. The injured members revealed the plan of a party leader to kidnap the process. This development has caused an acute division between party membership in the State.
Meanwhile, the APC APC leaders forum in the local government area of Northern Ibadan has gathered to review the developments related to the next election of the party, especially the activities of the Congress Committee of the Delegates that was constituted by the National Headquarters of the Party to carry out the primaries for the ticket of the House of Representatives.
The leadership in a statement issued at the end at its meeting rejected any antidemocratic practice. The statement partly said: “Aptic leaders firmly reject any anti -democratic practice or trends that may undermine the credibility of the primaries or endanger the collective efforts of the party members to guarantee victory in the next elections between parties between parties.
“The meeting in the session reiterated the urgent need for the realization of free, transparent and fair primaries, that is, the one that reflects the true wishes of the party members and wins the acceptance of all the interested parties in it.
“The meeting in the session appealed to all the members of the party to remain calm and exercise restrictions on all fronts, regardless of the level of provocation or apparent discomfort.
“Apex leaders ordered all party members to continue working for the success of the party in the next partial elections between parties.
“The meeting in the session dissipated the rumors that made rounds in the sense that the apex leaders had been committed to incline their support in favor of a particular applicant.
“The meeting in the session ordered all candidates to avoid all acts of resentment and bitterness between them and renew their hope, faith and confidence in the ability of the party to do justice.
“The leaders of the apex in the session reaffirm their unwavering commitment to the values, constitution and leadership of the congress of all progressives from the State to the national level.”
Similarly, the Nigeria news agency (NAN) had reported that some party leaders had raised concerns about the alleged imposition of a particular applicant, according to reports, backed by a senior government official.

According to the reports, the applicant, who joined the party recently from the Accord party, was believed by some within the party that was enjoying an improper advantage in the selection process.
The sources within the party said the accusation followed the directive of the National Secretariat of APC that ordered an indirect primary. This, said the source, annulled a previous decision of the party leaders in the state and the candidates to adopt a direct primary model for the selection process.
The interested parties said that the reversal of the previous direct primary model has left several members of the dissatisfied party and expressing a sense of exclusion.
The sources within the party have also alleged that the members of the Delegate Congress Committee and the Appeals Committee, which camp in a hotel in Ibadan, had produced a list of delegates before Congress to select delegates.
They said that the Congress delegates committees during a closed meeting at the APC State Secretariat on Saturday, informed interested parties on the cancellation of the previous scheduled delegate congress, opting instead to adopt a pre -approved list.
A figure of the Superior Party, which spoke on condition of anonymity, described development as an abuse of internal democratic processes. He appealed to the national leadership of APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene, saying that the integrity of the primary process must be protected.
