The governor of the state of Kano, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has congratulated the emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, for the successful completion of his doctor in Philosophy (PHD) at the School of Eastern and African Studies (SOA), University of London.
Governor Yusuf also reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to education, announcing plans to associate with the University of London to strengthen the University of the Northwest, Kano.
According to him, the doctorate was a deserved recognition of Sanusi’s contributions to erudition, economic thinking, family reform and the defense of social justice in Nigeria and beyond.
He praised the emir for his dedication of a lifetime to education, reform and public service, describing him as a moral compass whose work continues to inspire millions.
According to a statement signed by the governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bureau Dawakin Tofa, the governor described the EMIR as an “icon of excellence” and a model to follow for present and future generations.
He prayed for continuous wisdom, the health of sound and the long life for the emir, noting that Kano and Nigeria still benefit from their wealth of knowledge and experience.
Governor Yusuf said that the association with the University of London will focus on research, the development of the faculty and international academic standards, ensuring that the institution competes with the main universities worldwide.
He stressed that his administration will continue to prioritize education as a pillar for the development of Kano and future prosperity.
