Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his bold economic reforms, visionary policies and development programs which he said are reshaping national governance and development.
Governor Okpebholo noted that the federal government’s support to the states has provided resources for significant development projects. He made reference to the ongoing construction of flyover bridges and other infrastructure works in Edo State.
He said: “These projects are made possible by the support of President Tinubu. I urge all Edo people to continue supporting the President, whose reforms, although difficult, are essential to the progress of Nigeria.”
Governor Okpebholo made this known in Benin City during the City Boy Movement programme, an empowerment initiative aimed at supporting over 200 Edo youths.
At the event, the Governor noted that his administration is bringing genuine progress and development to the three senatorial districts of the state.
“The previous government claimed to have transformed education in Edo State, but our findings show otherwise. We are changing the narrative. Through our ongoing reforms, school enrollment across the state is increasing and we are improving facilities and learning processes so that Edo children can compete with their peers globally,” he noted.
Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, called on Edo youths to mobilize under the City Boy Movement to ensure that President Tinubu gets the maximum number of votes in the South-South region in the upcoming elections.
In his words, the Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, commended Governor Okpebholo for his development strides, describing the event as a celebration of peace and progress in Edo State.
Olawande said: “The progress we see today began about a year ago with the emergence of a dynamic governor committed to development.”
He added: “Nigeria’s youth are its greatest asset. Through various skill development platforms and programmes, this administration ensures that the youth are empowered to build a better future for themselves and the nation.”
The Edo State Commissioner for Education and State Director of the City Boy Movement, Paddy Iyamu, has commended President Tinubu for introducing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he said has ensured that no Edo child is forced to drop out of school due to financial constraints.
He also highlighted the achievements of Governor Okpebholo’s administration in one year, including the construction of 68 new schools across the state; sponsorship of five Edo students to study in China for three years; provision of one billion naira in scholarships for students; empowerment programs for market women and small businesses, among others.
Iyamu said: “Governor Okpebholo has achieved impressive results in infrastructure, education and job creation, all in a short time.”
The Director General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Oluwatosin, commended Governor Okpebholo for his visionary and quiet leadership style, highlighting significant strides in education, healthcare, security and infrastructure.
He also praised President Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms, describing them as bold steps towards national restructuring and sustainable growth.
Oluwatosin stated: “The City Boy Movement is the largest socio-political youth platform in Africa and will mobilize 10 million votes for President Tinubu in 2027 across the 36 states of the federation.”
