Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has challenged health workers in the state to make the best use of modern equipment provided in government hospitals to compassionately provide healthcare and maintain the highest level of professional standards.
Oyebanji made the request at the inauguration of the newly renovated and equipped General Hospital, Ifaki Ekiti, commemorating the third anniversary of his administration.
Oyebanji said his government remained committed more than ever to continue raising the standard of healthcare in all cities and towns in Ekiti, warning against self-medication that could subject citizens to premature death or illness.
Represented by Deputy Chief Governor Monisade Afuye, Governor Oyebanji challenged Ekiti residents to take ownership of health facilities in their domains, protect them from damage and support hospital staff and management in line with government’s vision of achieving a healthy society.
The governor noted that the huge investments in the health sector were aimed at making quality healthcare more accessible and effective for people in rural areas.
He said: “I urge our doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to make the best use of this facility and the equipment provided, provide care with compassion, maintain the highest professional standards and let this new environment inspire excellence.”
The Governor further stated that all investments in the health sector have one purpose: to make quality healthcare more accessible and effective for the people of Ifaki-Ekiti and neighboring communities.
The Governor detailed the modern equipment provided at the Ekiti State General Hospitals which includes operating theater room with anesthesia machine, operating tables with accessories, instruments and Mayo tables, a mobile operating theater light, suction pump, 300 watt diathermy, patient monitor, defibrillator, stainless steel cabinet, stretcher and IV poles. and light box.
The number one citizen of Ekiti State stated that all the projects commissioned reflected that his government stands for constant progress based on service, compassion and responsibility.
“In the recovery room, we have provided a powered recovery bed, resuscitation bags, nebulizers, glucometers, patient monitors and laryngoscopes, thus ensuring smooth and well-supported post-operative care, while the laboratory has been re-equipped with a benchtop centrifuge, blood count analyzer, electrolyte analyzer and hormone analyzer to enable fast, accurate and reliable test results with an analyzer and a chemistry analyzer. semi-automatic for better diagnosis and treatment,” he said. said.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Hospital Management Board, Dr. Olasnkanmi Alabi, noted that the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji has renovated and equipped five general hospitals in the state to make quality healthcare accessible to the grassroots people.
In his remarks, the Olufaki of Ifaki Ekiti, Oba John Falore, recalled that a few months ago when he visited the General Hospital, he was close to tears, saying that all the units in the health center had leaks and puddles of water and appreciated Governor Oyebanji’s quick response to his protest over the poor condition of the hospital.
