Truck Transit Parks Limited (TTP), operators of the electronic hailing system also known as the Eto platform, said at the weekend that 900,000 trucks entered and exited Apapa and Tin-Can ports in Lagos between January and November 2025 using the platform.
The Director General of TTP, Mr. Jama Onwubuariri, disclosed this during a roundtable discussion with the Maritime Correspondents Association of Nigeria (SCAN) in Lagos. He added that the company has introduced new technologies to improve the evacuation of cargo from the Lagos port.
According to Onwubuariri, the company has deployed technologies to help shippers, port operators, terminal operators and consumer goods companies improve the quality of their operations, manage their facilities and ensure that goods, vehicles and people move quickly and efficiently.
“We are intensifying the system to ensure that new technologies are implemented to reduce human interference. Currently, we are investing in an electronic tagging system. We have also designed what is called an electronic column exchange transaction log and the YAD traffic management solution, among others, to eliminate delays.”

Offering more information on how the electronic tagging system works, the TTP CEO explained: “The truck has a tag that is read by cameras and electronic tag readers at the port gate. The driver arrives, waits, the barrier opens once his tag is authenticated and he enters. That identity is maintained for the truck throughout its lifetime in the maritime business. The electronic tagging system can also be used to access multiple facilities.”
Regarding expansion plans, Onwubuariri revealed that agreements are underway to extend the Eto system to other states in the federation.
“As far as infrastructure is concerned, we are currently expanding to other states in Nigeria such as Cross River, Abia, Kaduna, Bauchi and Yobe. These are states we are in talks with. We will implement the e-hailing system as an infrastructure and traffic management solution. Next year, more developments will follow,” he said.
Speaking about the expiration of his license, the TTP MD expressed optimism that it would be renewed, citing the significant impact the Eto system has had over the years. He assured that more technologies will be introduced in the next phase of operations.
“Everything that needs to be done on our part for the renewal of the license has been done because there are performance indicators. We have submitted our application for a new license. The response we have received is that it is under review, so it is no longer in our hands. Our job is to ensure that everything stipulated in our contract is fulfilled, and we have done that. The next step is with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA),” Onwubuariri said.
Welcoming the TTP delegation to the SCAN Media Center in Lagos, SCAN President, Mr. Moses Ebosele, said the facility remains open and accessible to all stakeholders.
Ebosele urged the delegation and the wider shipping and maritime community to make full use of the SCAN Media Centre, noting that “our doors remain open to all stakeholders in and outside Lagos.”
