THE Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Mustapha Darma Rabe, has said that improving security challenges in some northern states, as well as infrastructure development taking place in the region, left the North with no option but to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
This is stated in a resolution read by the minister at the end of a strategic meeting held on Saturday in Dutse, capital of Jigawa state.
The closed-door meeting was attended by six Northern governors: Uba Sani (Kaduna), Dikko Radda (Katsina), Mala Buni (Yobe) and Jibrin Abubakar (Jigawa).
Also in attendance were the Vice President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, the Special Adviser to the President for Political Affairs, Kabir Ibrahím Masari and some senior government officials.
At the end of the meeting, the minister revealed that Muslim intellectuals and scholars from the 19 northern states and Abuja were invited to discuss the development the region had enjoyed since the inception of the current government.
According to him; “More than 500 Islamic scholars, preachers and clerics from 19 northern states and FCT passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu and called for support for his re-election in 2027.”

Rabe noted that the forum of Muslim intellectuals reviewed the Tinubu administration and concluded that the administration is making progress in security, infrastructure and development in the North.
The resolution cited improvements in Kaduna, Katsina and Sokoto states on security challenges, while more work is needed in Niger and Zamfara states.
The Forum also highlighted the rehabilitation of the Kano-Kaduna highway as important for trade and the economy, noting that roads and security affect access to markets, schools, healthcare and livelihoods.
