President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that the Nigerian national honor of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) was conferred on American businessmen and philanthropos Bill Gates in recognition of their long dedication to improve lives, particularly in Africa and Nigeria.
Tinubu announced this in a statement on Tuesday after meeting with the co -founder of the software company in Lagos.
According to him, the business tycoon was honored for his decades of global health, education, digital innovation, agricultural development and the eradication of polyomyelitis, areas in which he has had a significant impact through various interventions.
The president said that Gates' contributions, especially through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, have saved millions of lives, elevated communities and inspired world action.
He added that he also made discussions with the philanthropist on the strengthening of associations in health systems, technological innovation and youth development.
Tinubu emphasized that Nigeria remains open to new ideas and collaboration efforts that advance the welfare of humanity.

The statement says: “Today, I conferred the Nigerian national honor of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) to Mr. Bill Gates @thisbillgates in recognition of their commitment to improve lives through interventions in the global health of health and polyomyelitis, education, digital innovation and agricultural development, especially in Nigeria and throughout Africa.
“The contributions of Bill Gates have saved millions through the Gates @gatesfoundation Foundation and many of those initiatives, high communities and inspired global actions.
“We also had significant conversations to deepen our collaboration in health systems, innovation and development of young people, reaffirming our shared belief that real progress begins when we invest in people.
“Nigeria remains open to ideas, associations and actions that advance humanity.”
