The former presidential assistant, Reno Omokri, has urged both north and southwest to remain faithful to President Bola Tinubu before the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that the regions have a lot to win when supporting their re -election offer.
In a statement entitled “why the north and the southwest should not be deceived to become President Tinubu,” Omokri emphasized that both regions would benefit when supporting the second Tinubu mandate.
He drew parallel with the north support to former President Muhammadu Buhari despite what he described as a low performance.
“I remind the people of the southwest that even when it was clear for the more partial and fanatic person that General Buhari had done with lamentingly, and had reduced the economy of $ 510 billion that he inherited from President Jonathan less than half of that in 2019, northern Nigeria did not abandon him.
“They voted massively for him in 2019.
“Not only Arewa did not abandon it, but the Southwest Lukumi Yoruba proved to be reliable allies of the deceased Buhari.
“The southwest gave 50% of his vote to General Buhari against his law, who was his main challenger.
“In addition, Buhari won in Lagos with 53% of the votes. He also won in all the southwest states, except Ondo and Oyo.”
Omokri questioned why the southwest would consider turning against Tinubu when, according to him, the president has expanded the country’s economy.
“With this in mind, the southwest people should think hard and a long time. Then, this question should ask:
“If the North did not abandon Buhari, who reduced Nigeria’s GDP by more than 50%, why should President Bola Tinubu leave, who has expanded Nigeria’s gross domestic product from an economy of ₦ 269.29 billion of May 29, 2023, when like this, he became president, ₦ 372.8 Trillón today?”
According to him, Nigeria Bajo Tinubu is “progressing well”, and northern Nigeria should correspond to the loyalty shown to the north by the southwest during the Buhari administration.
“This is especially when Arewa is aware of the fact that more than 60% of the beneficiaries of student loans from President Tinubu are from the north.
“This is even when some of the most expensive projects carried out by the Tinubu administration are in northern Niger Kano-Kan-Kaduna Rail line at ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ Trans-Saharan Road in ₦ 1.2 billion, the Kaduna Light Rhe6 project at ₦ 100 billion and ₦ 824 billion Sokoto-Zamfara-Katsina Road.
He also pointed out the mastery of the norths in security leadership.
“Without counting the Chief of the General Defense, which is a northern, there are twenty military, security, police and application agencies in Nigeria. And twenty -one men direct these agencies. Of those twenty -one years, only five bodies are directed by the southwest.
Omokri also pointed out Tinubu’s respect for Buhari, saying: “Then, consider love, honor and almost the deification that President Tinubu granted to General Buhari in death.”
He warned that the lack of support for Tinubu in 2027 could cause distrust in future political agreements between the regions.
“The north of Nigeria should realize that there is life after 2027. If President Tinubu does not show solidarity in 2027, he will create distrust in Nigerian politics because South politicians hesitate to arrive and support the agreements reached with the north.
“Vote for President Tinubu in 2027, and President Tinubu, God saving his life, will ensure that power returns to Arewa in 2031, as he did in 2015.”
