A court in Ilorin area of Kwara State has refused to dissolve a 29-year-old marriage and advised the husband, Olufemi Morenikeji, to seek an amicable resolution of the dispute with his wife.

The wife, Mrs Rebecca Morenikeji, had filed for divorce due to lack of love in their marriage.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), she told the court that she was no longer in love with her husband and asked for custody of their two children, aged 23 and 20, along with monthly maintenance of £30,000.

“I am no longer interested in our marriage. I am tired and I want my two children to be with me,” she said.

Olufemi, however, pleaded with the court not to grant him a divorce, saying: “I don’t want a divorce.”

The presiding judge, Toyin Aluko, advised the husband to work towards an amicable settlement and inform the court.

He then adjourned the case.
